Two brothers, one studio.
Hello, we are Maik and Pirmin. We have been running punchline studio in Lahr in the Black Forest since 2015. We don't strictly divide the work between us – both of us handle nearly everything, from camera to editing to sound. Maik directs music projects such as music videos and concert films, while Pirmin directs documentaries and reportage. We handle planning and budgeting together.
The only clear split is what genuinely only one of us does: Maik mixes, masters and writes the scores, Pirmin is the one in front of the microphone. We decide everything else together. Your project does not go into a queue here – we are the two people you talk to, and the two people doing the work.

punchline studio is not an anonymous production house. Behind every project are Maik and Pirmin Styrnol – two creatives with the ambition to make every project better than anything before it.
We're based in Lahr near Freiburg, Germany – but that doesn't matter if you're in Italy, the US or anywhere else. Remote mixing and mastering works just as well as in person. For video productions, we travel worldwide.
Founded in 2015. Over 100 productions: music mixed for independent artists across all genres, concert films for international touring acts, music videos, and award-winning documentaries screened at film festivals across Europe and beyond.
Our documentaries – Winter in Lviv and Für ein Lächeln – have been recognised at multiple international film festivals. Currently in production: Heart and Soul, our documentary about the cult band Scaramouche. More at Documentary & Reportage.

For video productions and concert films we come to you. We're based in the tri-border region of Germany–France–Switzerland, but no location is too far. Whether Berlin, London, New York or Lagos – if the project demands it, we're there.
